Rose O' Sharon E-mail: Sharon Featured In Winter 2007: |
Sharon Malachowski began quilting as a way to express her love of color, design, and creativity. “I love the rich history of functionality and expression in the quilting medium. I like to integrate art and life; life and art.” In 2000 she was introduced to free needle machine embroidery and found she could “paint” with stitches. Since then she has completed over 500 commissioned quilts and teaches locally. She works out of a studio in her home, which she shares, with her husband’s inspiring garden. Sharon is also on board of directors for the Northern
California Quilt Council www.ncqc.net,
regularly teaches classes about the use and history of quilts for the
Underground Railroad, and donates her work to a variety of people in need:
from newborns & Hurricane Katrina victims to military personnel serving
overseas. Her award winning quilts and other textile art- hand made
purses, clutches and jackets, are often on display and/or sold in select
Northern California boutiques. Sharon's quilts have been shown in local,
national, and international shows: |
